I've decided to return to Vox. Maybe a bad idea, because I can hardly keep my blog updated.. But I'll make an effort to find something to write about. Because I like Vox. A lot. A few of you should also write more often (Katie! Jaime!).
So, what's going on with me?
I went back to Germany for three weeks at the end of June. It’s getting weirder every time. I still think of it as ‘home’, but I guess that has more to do with me being so far away than actual attachment to the country. Bill Bryson wrote, “Nothing makes you feel more like a native of your home country than being abroad” - and it’s so true. I’ll always be the German girl here. Over here, it’s a very big part of what defines me as a person. But as foreign as I am here, now it’s what I know and what I’m comfortable with. It’s a shock to come back to what you’re supposed to be so familiar with and have it feel so strange. It’s a very unsettling feeling indeed. I guess I just have to come to terms with the fact that I’ll always be torn between both countries. And in the end, home is where the heart is.
I'm busy with school, but excited (and scared) to be a 'real' Graphic Designer soon. I graduate in December, which is less than 5 months away. Things are looking good though. I'm currently trying to pull together all the artwork I've done over the last 2 years.. And I shall post some of it here.
Enough for now, it's lunch time and I have some leftover Chicken Curry waiting for me.
PS: Vox makes my Firefox crash. DeviantArt makes my Firefox crash. WTF is wrong?
Emil and I made pizza today and was he about to put it in the oven, when...
Emil: Huh?? The cheese looks kinda green.
Me (looking): ..... and fuzzy too?!!?!?!?
We had bought the mozzarella cheese two days ago, and it was FUCKING MOLDY. I usually don't do that kinda stuff, but the next time we go back to Coles I'm gonna bring the moldy cheese and shove it up someone's ass. NO, I'M NOT 100% SATISFIED WITH THIS PRODUCT.
And the most pathetic part is that we both were craving pizza so much that we picked all the cheese off the pizza for 20 minutes and then put some cheddar on top. Uuuughh.
Emil comes home from work, wants to make dinner.
Me: You can also have pasta.
Him: Oh, ok.
Me: The sauce is here. *opens fridge, points to sauce*
Him: Uh-huh.
Me: Did you listen? The sauce is HERE *points again, taps lid*
Him: Yea, ok!
5 minutes later.
Him: Where's the sauce?
Me: Are you kidding me?
Him: No. You didn't tell me.
Me: I told you twice.
Him: Come on, where is it? *opens fridge and random cupboards* Where did you put it?
Me: I didn't put it anywhere. I showed you where it is. Twice.
Him: Then where is it?!?! *opens more cupboards*
Me: ...
Sometimes I don't get him. I mean, seriously.
I just wrapped 3 Christmas presents for my dog, ribbons and all. With his name on them.
Is it time to call the people in the white coats yet?
Right, so.
I've actually had requests (*cough*onerequest*cough*) for more Chase stuff, and I decided one can never have enough cute puppy stuff, so here we go:
These are the photos I uploaded to Vox, the rest of the photos can be seen here.
I also took lots of videos of Chase, I uploaded the cutest ones to Vox. I included the link to the same videos on YouTube as well, because I just noticed the quality is MUCH better.

For two days, there has been nothing on TV but Cricket, and it goes on allll day. It seems to be kind of a big deal, so I'm thinking it might be some kind of Championship.. the people on TV always refer to it as 'Ashes', and I have no idea what exactly that means.. maybe it's the 'Ashes Cup', or Ashes is actually A.S.H.E.S. and stands for Australian Something.. something (I've tried to come with something for 15 minutes, but the initals are just very unfortunate).
So, because I've been living here for quite a while and stuff, I actually tried sitting down and understanding Cricket, because I know nothing about it except that it looks really boring and Australia is really good at it (I'm thinking it's because only England and some African countries bother to play it). At first glance it kinda looks like Baseball (which I don't understand either). One guy throws a ball, and another one tries to hit it with what looks like a squashed bat (actually, it looks like a big version of the thing you use to put icing on a cake). If he misses it, nothing happens, and if he doesn't a third guy might or might nor run after the ball and pick it up. The other players on the team appear to be doing nothing at all.
It's so confusing. I think those people are actually doing.. something.., but I can't quite figure out what it is. Another thing that I find majorly confusing is that I have no idea who Australia is playing against. All the players are dressed in white (and some are wearing funny hats), so I have no idea if it's one or two teams on the pitch. Currently Australia seems to be 502 points in the lead, but against who?? WHO?? There also seems to be something called Wiggets or Widgets (or something to that effect) involved, and occasionally they're displaying the speed of the ball when thrown (I personally found it more helpful if they told me who they are playing against, if they are at all. Maybe they're just playing by themselves. For fun). I won't even try to understand the scoring and points.
I have to go back to watching it intently now, so if someone could explain to me how Cricket works so that I wouldn't be completely clueless, that would be great.
Long story short:
Am still alive. Moved a month ago (house great), haven't had internet since. Internet company stupid, internet should have been connected Monday last week. Now more than a week later still no internet. Internet guy always busy, feel like pyscho girlfriend calling 20 a day and waiting for him to call back. Am now pulling a Katie and stealing unsecured wireless connection from neighbors. Muahaha.
Seriously. I should have internet again (my own, that is) in a couple days. I miss you guys and can't wait to be back! <3
We picked up Chase on Friday instead of today, and also moved head over heels to Emil's mother's place. She's only at home once a week, and it's much easier to bring the puppy outside here, so we'll be staying until we find a house, which I hope won't take long. Chase is a sweetheart, and he's such a good puppy, but he sure does pee a lot (any housebreaking advice is welcome)! This weekend was/is so tiring. Having a puppy is pretty much like having a baby, and those at least wear diapers! I spent all weekend running after him and trying to make sure that he doesn't 'go potty' inside the house, playing with him, making him food, waiting outside for ages for him to go.. I have to go read a bit or eat or take a nap now before Chase wakes up again and demands I take him outside or play with him.
I get the same feeling when I go home. I've only been gone two years, but each time I go... read more
